Driving Lessons - Before Starting to Lean

Before you can start driving you will need:

  • To be 17 years old.
  • To have a Provisional Driving Licence.
To get a licence collect an "Application for a Driving Licence Form", D1, from a Post Office or collect one from our office, complete it and send off to Swansea. You can apply up to three months before your 17th birthday.
  • To book lessons.
You will need your provisional licence before you can actually take any lessons, although you can book them any time.

In order to obtain your FULL driving licence you will need to pass both your theory and your practical tests. The Theory Test should be booked shortly after starting your driving lessons and your Personal Driving Instructor will advise you when you should book your Practical Test.

Mock theory tests can be taken on the DSA website at: www.dsa.gov.uk

The best way to learn to drive is to take regular lessons spread over several weeks. Those pupils who use the 'one lesson per week' approach often take many months to learn to drive. While this method spreads out the cost of learning to drive, it can also be more expensive because its easy to forget from one week to the next the things that you have already learned. As a result you take many more lessons before you reach test standard. It's a bit like taking two steps forward and one step back.

Since we all lead very busy and active lives we will arrange your Driving Tuition around your life. Lessons can take place in the morning, afternoon and evenings with many of the Instructors teaching over the weekend.
